popcorn.

If you were to ask me what my favorite food is, I wouldn’t even have to think about it. Without a doubt it’s popcorn.

popcorn

While it’s probably not the most exciting or refined choices for my favorite food, it’s probably the only thing that I could eat every single day and not get sick of. In my mind there is absolutely nothing better than a big bowl of freshly popped popcorn (popped with a hot air popper, of course!) with tons of butter and salt on top. I’m somewhat of a popcorn purist — no fancy toppings or candy mixed in for me!

What’s the one thing you could eat every day and never get sick of?

morning routine.

Thank you so much  to Shutterbean for sharing this link today!

I’ve just spent the last hour reading the fascinating “my morning routine” series on the Bon Appetit blog where celebrities share their own morning routines. Of course, I was especially interested in Justin Timberlake’s routine (he’s one of my many celebrity crushes!), but I found myself reading every single post in the series. Jonathan Alder’s description of his life with Simon Doonan was particularly funny too!

morning coffee

As for me, I’ve recently started becoming somewhat of an early riser. I’m usually up by 6:15 on work days and up around 5:30 for the gym on days I have school. On the weekends I usually sleep in a little bit later, but not ever past 9:30 or 10.

While I’m not a huge fan of typical breakfast foods, I do try to eat something every morning. Usually it’s just a simple fruit smoothie with frozen fruit, almond milk, chia seeds and sometimes some spinach. If I get up early enough, I’ll drink my smoothie while catching up on blogs or news (sometimes Facebook..) online. Otherwise I have to chug it down while I’m getting ready. Usually I’m able to hold off on my morning coffee until I get to work, but if I’m particularly tired I’ll make some french press coffee and drink it while I get ready.

Then it’s out the door by 7:45 for work or finishing up some last minute homework before my first class of the day.

What about you? What’s your typical morning like?

pipe dream.

Yesterday Molly from A Piece of Toast posted about her pipe dream.

Until then, I had never heard of the concept of a pipe dream, but now I can’t stop considering what mine would be. A pipe dream is basically what you would do if you had nothing holding you back or preventing you from living the life you want

le creuset It’s funny how the first thing that popped into my mind was to open a restaurant or cafe. I’m studying communication in school and have never really done anything to qualify me to work in the food industry — except love to eat good food! However, I have been trying to improve my cooking skills since moving into my own place and finally having a clean, nice kitchen.

While I don’t think dropping everything and starting my own restaurant is in the cards for me (at least not now), I am trying to make an effort to explore anything that interests me right now. Who knows where it could lead!

So in that spirit, I’ve decided I’m going work on trying out some new recipes and attempting to branch out a little from my usual meals of pasta and salad. Look out for some new food posts coming soon!

early morning.

One of my favorite times is when I wake up early enough to leisurely drink my coffee before running off to work of school

coffee time[ source ]

It doesn’t happen very often because I usually snooze until the last possible second, but I’m always grateful when I do pull myself out of bed a few minutes early. Being able to slowly drink my coffee while relaxing and reading some blogs always starts my day off on the right tone.

I’m really trying to make an effort to be more of a morning person and to wake up in time to enjoy time to myself in the mornings. It’s especially difficult on the weekends when I have no real reason to get up early, but this weekend I’m going to try my hardest to continue my habit of being an early riser.

Things are Sweeter in Tennessee

This past weekend I went home to Tennessee to visit my family.

My parents recently moved, and this was the first time I saw their new house. It was pretty weird not to be staying in my childhood home, but I do really like their new cozy, cottage in the country. Here’s a few scenes from the weekend:
